Somewhere along the way it all got twisted. Somehow, car shows devolved from gatherings of the talented and inspired into mad assemblies of competitive lust. Representing your crew and area code, working towards a magazine photo shoot and cheap sponsorships. Darkened convention center halls, fog machines and girls seeking the MTV lottery.

Remember when shows were about getting together with people from across town, county and state, and checking the local flavor? When cats took time to explain how they did a wire tuck instead of telling you to Google it? We remember those days. And we’re bringing them back. One/One isn’t reinventing the car show; it’s refining it. Come see how at the opening round of the 2010 Formula D season, April 9-10, at the Long Beach Grand Prix.

One/One will be showcasing 4 of today’s top builders from Southern California in an open forum, taking questions from the audience. No pretense. All passion. Sharing ideas, passing knowledge. The infamous PJ Bonafacio and his classic cars, Brandon from Bowls, San Diego’s own, Auto Fashion, and Judson Bryan from JDM EGO. They’ll all be displaying their latest creations and will be around to talk about their builds.

We’ll have awards. Everyone appreciates recognition for their efforts, even better if it helps offset some of the build costs. But trophies aren’t what car shows are about. Don’t think we’re just trippin’ on nostalgia. We’ve got the latest goods from the hottest hands. We’ve got DJs you HAVE heard of. We’re Bringing the Ruckus, one of the most contemporary trends out of L.A., via Japan. And the Gallery, where you can see VIP, Classic, Time Attack/Drift, and Flushed cars. 150 Spots where we’ll divide the cars up by style. If you’re a team wanting to display together, we can do that too. There will also be a Motorcycle/Ruckus category. Limited space is available for car show competitors and teams. We’ll be hand selecting “the best of the best” from each region on the Formula Drift Tour. Please tell us about your love for your car and we hope to see you at the next event. Even if you don’t make it into the show due to limited space, we’d still love to meet you and talk to you at the show. We love cars too, and we’ll be at every show, personally.

Pre-registration starts today. $35 per car which includes 2 tickets to both the show and drift event. $20 per ruckus which includes 1 ticket.

The final day arrives and we do what we came here to do, WEK’FEST! After getting only 3ish hours of sleep after a night of tasty food and alcohol, we woke up to start prepping for the show. Thankfully we brought down most of the stuff the night before so it wasn’t too painful of a process of setting up. We got to our designated spot, which was perfect as it was right next to the entrance to the area, and put up what we had and arranged the cars. At this point, cars just kept coming through and all the fumes from all the cars in the complex just kept gathering and started to give everyone headaches. This is when I realized it was going to be a loooooooong day.

I went up to the first floor of the parking garage a couple times to put stuff away in the rentals and everytime the line to get in doubled in size. Literally, the event itself was beyond packed. The line never stopped all the way up to about a hour or so before it ended. This was only because the Fire Marshalls decided to stop more people from entering the already packed structure. I’m just glad I took pictures a bit early, any later and it would’ve been impossible to do it.

The quality of cars were what we expected from this kind of event, especially being the first event of the year. Everything you could’ve imagined was fully represented. VIP cars, Euros, Honda’s, Ol’ School and everything in between, nothing was left out. There were some cars out there that I had to do double takes on because I couldn’t believe the quality, time and effort that went into the build. It was truly a sight to see. Like in the previous posts we brought out only 3 of our cars. But, thankfully, Calvin Wan brought out his car that filled up another spot and it was a nice addition the line-up that we had. Thanks again to Calvin for deciding to put it with us.

But the weekend finally had to come to an end. We won 3^rd place VIP with the Q45 we brought… but didn’t stick around for the awards to actually grab it. We just wanted to get on the road back down to San Diego. All in all, it was a good weekend. Spending time out of So.Cal and spending it with people who we respect and can call our family, nothing can come close to it. I can’t stress this enough, but a big THANK YOU to everyone that came out with us and made this weekend memorable. It’s still early in 2010, let’s keep making a statement and enjoy the times we have with one another. Thank you and good night.

Day 2 of our trip to Norcal for the annual WEKFEST MEET.  After knocking out after 16 bottles of Soju from the Korean food place we all decided to make saturday the day we do the tourist crap.  We all decided to wake up early and meet up at the lobby of the Kabuki hotel to get some breakfast.  Little did we know, we dont know where to get breakfast hahaha.  So as I wake up I get a text from a good friend Dennis Chen(aka VIPUCF).  He was nice to invite us to lunch around 12 to 12:30 at pier 29.  As you can see we actually came up deep even though we didnt show all the cars.  The AF Fam always down to support each other.  Pier 29 was a nice place to get away from the city with a nice view of the bay.  The food was great!!!! The drinks at 1pm were the shit!!!!!!!  Shots of Patron all afternoon!!!! We had shots at the table and at the bar.  Thanks to Dennis for knowing people we got bottle service of Patron and man that was early to get drunk but oh well we on vacations hahaha.  The whole lunch consisted of Autofashion, Falken Tire, and Airruner.  Also Present was Dennis and James from VSC. Sorry im bad with names but also 2 guys Dennis was with.  After eating some of  the fam went near the water to take pictures and well some of them were pretty funny as you will see in the album.

After all the picture taking.  We all decided to go to the bay park with Dennis.  When we got there OMG what a view from the park.  It was a nice place to be.  It look like a nice place to have a meet(hint hint).  Also a great place to BBQ it up!!!  After losing part of our crew we waited to try to meet up with them at the Fisherman’s Wharf.

We got calls and started our way to the Wharf.  As we get to the wharf and walking the boardwalk the girls wanted to go to no other then the Ghirardelli square.  Everyone got there sweets and ice cream.  It was a great time just going around.   As we sat there I totally forgot the time and missed a homie BIGMIKEs Bday dinner which was from 3:30 to 5pm.  Early ass dinner!!! Sorry Mike Happy Bday sorry we didnt make it!

So after the Wharf we wanted to check out more places.  Thanks to Never Lost(BS by the way).  We ended up going to Lombard street(twisty ass street).  After that small ass tourist attraction we saw this white lighted up tower.  not knowing what it was we said fuck it lets go there.

As we go to the light hahaha.  It was called Coit Tower.  One of the best views of the city at night.   This is a nice place to be to see the city or any of the bridges.  The only bad thing is that someone forget to cut the tress so we can actually see shit hahaha.  So after a couple of hours we got hungry.  Mike D and Prashant met up with up with us at the tower and suggested to go to a Thai place to eat called OSHA THAI on 2nd and Market.

Once we get to Osha we met up with John of VIP style to have a interesting dinner.   The place was really nice looking and fancy.  With the looks the food was fancy plated and had very good presentation.  This place was good and would go back to this place again.  I think all the places we ate was the shit.   But meeting up with John, Mike D, and Prashant was a great part of the night.  These guys know how to show Autofashion some sick spots.  THANK YOU GUYS!!!!!!

After getting drunk again hahaha.  we decided to go back to the hotel and sleep because we have to get up at 6am to roll in the rides for the show. so stay tuned for Day 3 of the Show and the trip back to LA and SD!!!!!!

How do I begin hmmmm. Ok lets make a quick run down. We were suppose to have 8 cars there but that didnt happen because these stoopid weather people said rain rain rain. So we ended up going in 2 vans and 3 cars. no matter what we all ended up going anyways to support the shop and the show. Plus it was a little get away from Socal is always nice. It was a fun trip we ended up getting to our hotel Kabuki which was nice. After deciding to where we wanted to eat we found this korean BBQ place. Forgot what it was called but it was good. Met up with Steve,Henry,Robert, and Yuri at the resturant. Oh man never take me to a korean place where they have soju hahaha. Overall it was fun on friday when we got there not to much sight seeing just pretty much ate and went to bed. Saturday gets even better. Till then enjoy the pictures!!!!

If you havent been out to a Cars and Cofffee meet in Irvine you are missing out!!!  Even with the rain people decided they were going to come out and have the meet no matter what.   This meet is one of the best meets out there as far as dedication.   Alot of the people now a days are scared to drive their cars in the rain or even want to just make it out to a meet.   Then everyone wonders why the “SCENE” is gone. Its gone because no one participates in these types of events which are free…yah you heard me FREE!!!!   This is the time to show off what you have and check out others peoples cars.   I think the import scene can learn alot from these older guys.   But anyways you have to make it out to this meet.  Yes its early as hell and you have to get there before 8 just to get some nice spots.   you can see from oldies but goodies and exotics to your normal daily drivers and show cars.   Its not as packed as it use to be but its still a great turn out.

At this one we had the chance to bring up the Kazashi since Suzuki got a space for the SEMA cars.   Even though we didnt have much time on the car and wanted to do more with no budget  we got some of it done.

It was a great time meeting up with all the fam like Nick,Nate, Carter, and Chewy.   it was a great turn out and fun chillin with everyone.   Great cars throughout the whole meet.

After the meet we decided to hit up IHOP and get caught up with everything after SEMA.    Great times!!! We will be out there again for sure and next time we bringing more then just the Kazashi!!!!

Lets keep the aftermarket indusrty alive and go to more meets and events.  Remember they are usually Free so why not!!!

Lets start off with the Food.   We had everything that you can think of such as Turkey, Stuffing, Deviled eggs, Deserts, Roast, Noodles, and Ham.   With all the food came everyone that helped and pitched in and made food for this occasion.  Lets thank everyone Joe, Vanessa, Robert, Yuri, Joyce, Steve, Linda, Kevin, Bobby, Kenny, Oscar, Augg, Dennis, Lisa, Gene, Nate,  and everyone else I forgot sorry.

After the food this is one of those times that we can blame it on the Alcohol!!!!  Lets thank Patrone (Costco size), Kirkland, Grey Goose, Sake, and the mother effer Henny.  For some of us it was a ruff night to get over.  Some of us we just couldn’t remember too much after finishing 3 bottles of Goose, 1 big ass bottle of Patron,  2 bottles of Sake, 1 tall bottle of Kirkland Vodka,  and that fool Henny hahaha.  This was one night to remember for sure.   We had throw up everywhere, Frosty the Snow man had melted HAHAHA, and a few other things happen just so much!!!!   Sorry for the mess Joe and Vanessa.  Hope the Cleaners didn’t hate you too much hahaha!!!

All in all it was a great night.  All of the Autofashion Family showed up!!!!  As you can see this was an UGLY Christmas sweater party.   We had a competition on who had the ugliest sweater and everyone paid $10 bucks to give to the winner.  It was a hard decision but Joe came out as the winner.  There was some really ugly sweaters that came out that night and oh my god it looked like Christmas threw up.  After the contest we did the white elephant gift exchange with everyone.  This wasn’t your ordinary white elephant.  Everyone had to take a shot to get a gift and if you stole from someone you would have to take 2 shots.  So you can imagine how many people got messed up just by this alone hahaha.  There was great gifts out there and a lot of stealing happened and a lot of drinking.

The next day we always get back together to grab breakfast.  This year was a little hard for people to get up but managed to make it out.   Last year we went to olive garden.  This year we ended up at IHOP.  It was one of the best times of 2009 for us and will never forget it.

This year we had the task of building not one, but 2 manufacturer vehicles as well as helping to build customer cars along the way. Lot’s of headaches but in the end it was definently worth it.

The first vehicle, which we’re proud to have been the ones to build this car from the ground up, was none other than the Ford Flex. We built this vehicle specifically for Ford and Falken Tire. This was a hard task for us. There were a lot of standards set for this car and we wanted to make sure we can fulfill everything possible, within budget of course. But the end product was a thing of beauty. Ford agreed as we were presented with an award for it. The award was for the overall achievement award. That includes ALL Fords and not just competing against other Flex’s. Take that you mustangs! JK!

The second car we built was the Suzuki Kizashi for Import Tuner. This was a lot of work for us. First, we had less than a month to get it done. Secondly… no parts were immediately available for it. So we had to find suspension for it, which we were able to with the help of B&G Suspension. The other hard part was getting a kit for it. We ended making our own kit for the car and it ended up coming out looking fantastic. No award for this one, but I believe with the amount of time we had and the resources available to us, it came out pretty well and I loved the overall look.

This years SEMA was enjoyable. Producing award winning vehicles in the eyes of BIG BIG companies is an honor for us and we hope to be able to continue doing what we do. This is our lifestyle and our passion, we won’t ever stop doing what we love.

Overall though, it was an enjoyable experience. Other than almost feinting while I was taking pictures, yes it was effin hot, I had fun just walking around the show and watching the cars drift around the track.

Though the biggest event of the evening didn’t even have anything to do with cars. We celebrated Big Steve and Jenny Chu’s birthday in the AF booth. A crowd gathered as we all sang happy birthday to the dynamic duo. So, the cake was made out to Big Steve, as he’s family and jenny chu… not so much. But anyways by the end of the night, when Jenny Chu was leaving, what did she end up doing? She left with the damn BIG STEVE CAKE! She’s a cake stealer!!! (though not really) Was funny though that she did end up taking a bday cake that clearly says Big Steve on it.

All in all, good times were had and I’m glad we did what we did. The memories these events create will never be forgotten. HELLA LATE… but once again Happy Birthday Big Steve and Jenny Chu!

FALKEN TIRE TEAMS UP WITH FORD AND AUTOFASHION TO BUILD AWARD WINNING FORD FLEX

Breaking the mold of cookie-cutter project vehicles on oversized chrome rims, Falken Tire envisioned the perfect blend of traditional “Lowrider” styling and a 2010 platform while utilizing today’s finest full-size CUV, the Ford Flex. Rolling on 22” Falken S/TZ04 tires and wire spoke Dayton wheels, this project was set to earn the respect of old school purists to new-age tuners.

Exterior modifications include a full PPG Paint color change, subtle silver leaf and pinstripe graphics and GT Factory rear suicide doors. The 3d Carbon aero treatment lays low when the Airrunner suspension drops and a low rumble is delivered through Magnaflow’s SS cat-back exhaust system. Other mods include an ACS sliding rag-top, Alpine audio and video components, Playstation 3, Metra audio wiring and custom printed paisley interior featuring the Falken “F” logo and the distinctive clown logo created by the renowned photographer and director Estevan Oriol.

With the car completed just in time and delivered to Ford’s booth at the SEMA Convention earlier this week, things got even better when the Falken Flex was awarded a Special Recognition Award for Outstanding Achievement in Design.
