Formula D + JTuned Auto Gallery – 04/11/09

The streets of Long Beach hold some of the craziest events this time of the year. The first event of the year, and it’s a big one for people in our industry, is the infamous Formula D drift event. Formula D has become the premier event for Drifting enthusiasts and gear heads alike. It brings out everything you would love, insane motors being pushed to its limits, crazy cars with graphics up the wazoo and tire smoke only we could appreciate. Now, I know this isn’t what you would expect to see there, but we still enjoyed ourselves and the show as a whole

The Drifting was intense to say the least. The Long Beach course doesn’t offer room for error; with its tight areas and even smaller drift corners, it’s always exciting every time those tandem battles occur. Although I personally feel that people got robbed in standings, the drifting was fun to watch and I had a blast viewing it all. Next time though, I need a media pass so I can attempt to take those sick motion shots.

But, that’s not all. Along with the drifting, JTuned had there Auto Gallery and Show, which was exactly as the title said, the show side of the event. Over the bridge and to the other side of the event, the show section brought along some amazing cars. AutoFashion, yours truly, brought out the DJ setup and spun jams and mixes that you all love to hear. What really set JTuned apart was the fact that they provided unique trophies. Instead of the usual bland trophy that you can get anywhere, they decided to give out Sparco steering wheels connected to a stand. I was amazed at the thought of this and kind of wished I got one L maybe next time.

The weekend was fun. Hanging out with the family and friends we haven’t seen in awhile, just made everything worth it. Thanks again to FALKEN for having my car in the booth this year, it was an honor. I’m glad I made it out and can’t wait for the next event.  Expect new coverage and new posts soon!
