DUB SHOW LA 09

Day 1
Saturday March 21st, 2009 was the roll in day of the DUB Show. I had talked to Freddie earlier in the week and he said that we’d have some cars showing with Shin at Airrunner, so I said I’d head out to support and give rides to those that needed it. Headed out to the L.A. convention center to meet up with everyone. Traffic wasn’t too bad, so I got there pretty quick. As I exited the freeway, I noticed quite a few groups of teenagers walking around and parking signs reading “$10 event parking.” I was thinking to myself that it was kind of strange and noticed that the infamous ADULTCON just happened to be the same weekend as DUB! (Sorry fellas, we didn’t attend Adultcon so no pictures.) Walked into the venue, and made the usual rounds. Said waddup to a few of the guys at DUB that I’ve met throughout the years and found the cars that we’re displaying for the weekend. Cars on display consisted of Freddie’s LS, Joe’s GS, and Boy David’s M35x. The usual was there from SD, Freddie, Kevin, Oscar, Joe and Vanessa.
Few hours went by and we decided to head out to get some grub and check-in to their hotel. So we headed out to In-n-out, not just any, but the FIRST IN-n-OUT in my home town, Baldwin Park. Grabbed some food, joked around about “having it animal style” and we were on our way to the hotel for everyone to check-in.

Everyone decided to chill, rest/wash up a bit and just hang out until dinner so we all just laid back. As Freddie was checking out the room, we noticed an out of the ordinary door sign that wasn’t the traditional “Please do not disturb.” The sign actually said “I NEED SOME “ME TIME.”” Being the creative bunch that we are, Joe and Oscar decided to have a photo session. As Joe gathered the props, you know, the lotion and tissues, Oscar made himself comfortable on the bed with the sign. Those two ended up having some, “Them Time.” As always, it was ridiculously hilarious.
Afterwards, we hit up one of our preferred eating spots in Rowland Heights, Coconut Bay, a Thai restaurant that offers free refills on Thai tea and Thai iced coffee! You can’t EVER get that anywhere else but there. After dinner everyone was pretty much in food coma status so we parking lot pimped it and digested our food. Day of DUB coming up next you turtlenecks!!
Day 2
Sunday March 22nd, 2009 the day DUB show was open to the public. Being that DUB show really isn’t for us, we decided to lag it to get to the convention center and get some lunch before the show. Restaurant of choice, the food coma inducing Roscoe’s Chicken n Waffles! So we made our way over to Pasadena from the Hotel with much anticipation that we would be having some bomb ass food. As we pull up to Roscoe’s we all evidently realized we weren’t having what we all so desired that late morning. As we pulled up the restaurant, the line, or what seemed to be a fire alarm drill in elementary school, was all scattered throughout the front. The wait was literally over a hour long. Having wanted to grub on such good food, we were all stumped as to where we can go that would satisfy our hunger. Since none of us could come up with something that could possibly match Roscoe’s, we ended up heading out to iHop in Pasadena by the 110 Freeway. There was a 15minute wait, way better than roscoe’s, but we kept ourselves occupied in the parking lot before heading in for some grub. After our Pancake fix, (closest thing to waffles) we headed down the 110 back to the Convention Center.
As we drove past the front, the line was wrapped around the building! With the main parking lot for South Hall full, we had to park offsite. Since we had wrist bands, we skipped that insanely long line and went in from the rear entrance near the stage.
We made our way through the sea of Dodger Blue and scantily clad dressed baby’s mommas and got to the cars. I did my usual walk around to make sure the cars were fine, and noticed quite a few GREASY hand marks on Joe’s hood. I was literally in awe, as I thought, “maybe she had Roscoe’s?” then snapped out of it and went “aw man… that’s nasty.” With the cars being parked near the entrance we got more than enough attention as the DUB Show crowd was star struck by our, “out of the ordinary set-ups.”
With the show well under way, and the shoulder to shoulder attendance, I managed to go and check out the newly added BallUp event. Being a big basketball fan, I got to see some of the biggest stars in the game. This included the likes of And1 stars like the professor, who was breakin some ankles left and right and even lob some ridiculous dunks.
All the walking around and watching the basketball got me kind of thirsty. So I headed on over to the Monster Energy Booth, but the line was wrapped around the booth as Aubrey O’Day, ex-danity kane member, was there in the Monster Lounge. So I decided to scratch that idea and view some of the cars displaying in their booth. I noticed this Hyundai Genesis with a familiar looking face by it. It ended up being Kel from Keenan and Kel!! I immediately blurted out (well not really) “Who wants Orange Soda!!” Of course with the loud stage, he didn’t hear me, but a member of his entourage did, and he chuckled as I walked away.
Headed back to the cars and a huge ass crowd was around the TIS wheels booth (booth was right across from us) and I was wondering who it’d be. It was none other than XXX himself, ICE CUBE!(PIC IS BLURRY BLAME SPECIAL K LOL ITS CUBE!!!)

All in all, the show wasn’t too bad, it was my 10th year attending/participating in the DUB show and it’s still holding down the crowd/concert/cars since the beginning at Irwindale Speedway and National Orange Show. Until next time!! Blame it on the al-al-alllllcohol!!
