Today Me, Kevin, Joe, and Vanessa decided to crave our hunger with some soul food at this spot in the hood called Bonnie Jean’s Soul Food Cafe.  As alot of people that know us…We love our soul food(ROSCOES).  Today was one of those days.  We dont have a Scoes here in San Diego but we have the next best thing!  This spot had it all, from the friendly staff, gospel music, Great food, and yes Chicken and Waffles.  We didnt get the chicken and waffles but we decided to check out what they had to offer!

Here is what we ordered:

Appetizer: The Sampler with Fried Mac and Cheese, Gizzards, and Fried Pickles.

Kevin : Chitlins, Greens, Red beans and rice, and Corn Bread. Drink: Sweet Tea

Funny shit that the waitress asked Kevin “Did you ever eat Chitlins?”  Kevin said YES.  Even though I knew Kevin never ate Chitlins, I didnt say anything but was laughing inside HAHAHAHA!  Good Job Kevin!

Joe:  Ribs, Greens, Fried Okra, and Corn bread.  Drink: PURPLE KOOL AID! Yes koolaid not just a grape soda!  How dope is that to order koolaid like you were at home and yes they did make us asians feel right at home.

Vanessa: Southern Fried Chicken W/ Honey Pecan Glaze, Greens, Grits with cheese, bacon, and chives, and Corn bread.  Drink:  Sprite!

Me (Freddie): Fried Catfish, Fried Okra, Red Beans& Rice, and Corn Bread.  Drink: Water…Yes Water because with all that food I needed something without salt or sugar!

Desert: Sweet Potato Pie and Red Velvet Cake.  As people that know me.  I love to have my desert before my meal.  Yah its wierd so what!  Sorry no pics of the desert because it was gobbled up!

Well when you come here expect the service to be great and the food to be bomb!  Also the spot isnt a fancy resturant with all the bells and whistles.  Its a nice cozy spot right here in our city.  Just a word of advice ” Never go there right before they close” hahaha!  Try to be there early so that you can get the whole experience of being at home and also be there with great Family!  As for us we did the rush there and eat fast so we have to go again and enjoy the food more!  So if your ever in the hood you should stop by this spot!  After you eat you can always head over to FAMBAM!!!!  Also watch out for them hoodrats that will ask you to use your phone!  She got a nappy weave with heart shaped bamboo earings at least 2 pairs…Round away girl! HAHAHA

If you are in SD and love breakfast this is a place to go go!   Food is very full filling and so much of it you have to take home.  The servings per person is on plates you would use to serve 10 people. We been to the one in Vegas but not in SD but the quality is still the same.

We got up at 6am just to get there at 730.  If you get there later then 8am be ready to wait in a long ass line.  This is a small place like all of the restaurants in Hillcrest.  We just got there in time because after we got seated we saw the line outside and oh man…  I give this place 2 thumbs up!

Me and Special K decided to hit “Studio Diner” for the breakfast because the sun was killing the photoshoot so we needed to kill some time.  I got the “Count of Monte Cristo  cost about $10.50  A Studio favorite, battered and fried sandwich stuffed with turkey, ham, Swiss & Cheddar served with raspberry preserves. You’re going to LOVE this one!!!”  On the side I got 1 blueberry pancake shaped like a old movie reel.  Everything i got was delicious!!!!  Next time im going to get the eggs benedict.

Special K got one of the breakfast dishes called the El Studio cost about $8.25  This consist of chorizo and scrambled eggs, served with refried beans & flour tortillas.  D-LISH!

Take a time warp and feast your eyes on the neon-lighted Studio Diner. It’s an authentic trip back to the ’40s — Down the 163 in the middle of San Diego’s Kearny Mesa few miles from the shop. Wrapped in chrome, the diner is a place to be at.

Decorated with “behind-the-scenes” movie-making equipment and serving comfort food with an upscale vibe, Studio Diner is fun for the senses. Try their Grip Burger, a half-pound cheeseburger you might have a hard time finishing. (Low-carb dieters will appreciate being able to order their burgers “protein style,” substituting buns for leaves of lettuce.) They feature from the east coast the Lobster Roll and whole belly Ipswich Clams served as an appetizer.

You’ll find all the basics like grilled cheese and Reuben sandwiches, chicken pot pies. But the breakfast is just as you imagine; pancakes, eggs any style with choice of meats, seriously good eggs benedict and treats like lox and cream cheese omelets for foodies.

This place gets a 9 out of 10 stars and if your in town or live in SD and in the area you should try this place!

Being local to San Diego and just a hop, skip and a jump away from LA, we’re lucky enough to have an eclectic amount of food either north or south from us. You can literally have ANY type of food just a couple miles from each other. But on this very day, we decided to go and get some sushi. Located in San Marcos, Sushi Huku has an atmosphere like no other. You walk in there and the first thing that hits those ear drums is the melodic sound of Reggae. The sushi chefs that fill the restaurant welcome you and it feels care free and you know you’re in for a good time. AutoFashion, Big Steve, myself, along with a couple others, decided to go for the all you can eat sushi, which any one of us could tell you, is beyond worth it.

It’s a typical way of ordering for sushi around here, you fill out a sheet and just chit chat, drink some sake or soju and wait until the food comes out. The moment it comes out though, you’re just blown away as to how much these people actually provide you. It’s not thin strips of fish, it’s nice big chunks of food, able to bring any big eater down for the count. Everything is delicious, from the typical California rolls to their Hawaiian and Albacore rolls, everything is top notch deliciousness.

It’s a friendly establishment as the chefs always joke around with customers and you feel a part of what they have to offer. Not only because of the price that makes you wanting for more, it’s because they make you a part of the family and you’re always guaranteed a fantastic time.
